During
meetings of Fuchsia Societies there are to recognize experienced and fanatic fuchsialovers
to a pined badge with on it the logo of their Fuchsia Society. At least, so I have
experienced when I become a member of our Dutch Fuchsia Society. When you aren't still
experienced then, soon allready you want also to distiguish yourself with such a
distinguishing sign and you buy yourself such a badge, create with it the impression to
belong to that 'fuchsia elite group'. After years you discover that carrying such a badge
is 'all show' and many members think obvious just so. Now I seldom see members of our
Fuchsia Society decorated with such a nice badge, by way of exception then during meetings
of international niveau.
Fuchsialovers
are real collectors. Not only of the many varieties of fuchsias but also of needlework,
porselain and other things on which is an image of the fuchsia. In England this collecting
hobby is known as 'Fuchsia Lore'. A very special theme of collecting is the
collecting of the badges of the different fuchsia societies. Last
year after receiving by email a request of the daughter of a highly-aged English
fuchsialover, my NKvF-badge became a part of the collection of him. And when you during a
meeting of the Dutch Fuchsia Society meet a carrier with the North Devon Fuchsia
Society-badge, than it could be that it is the editor of this website. Yes, he has
got that badge as service of the allready named daughter.
Wath
there could been found of badges in such a collection, you can see in an (incomplete)
collection below that I 'gathered' from the internet. By this it strikes that this badges
are offered on the Ebay auctionsite sporadically. |
